This is a great picture of how to wrap fabric around some kind of resist (like a glass bottle or plastic pipe) to create a shibori effect. The idea is to wrap the fabric around, wrap a string around the fabric and resist, then scrunch the fabric. The dye will not go where the fabric is held tight to the resist, thus creating the cool pattern!
